Since January 2023, TUS has been implementing the project “Partnership for Resilient Livelihoods in the CHT Region (PRLC)” in Laxmichari Upazila, one of the remote areas of Khagrachari District, to contribute to poverty reduction and resilient livelihoods for extremely poor households in the three Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) districts of Bangladesh.
This comprehensive project focuses on promoting livelihoods for the extremely poor, expanding nutrition services, strengthening community mobilization, and supporting market development for the most vulnerable people in the CHT. It prioritizes improving the well-being of underprivileged and marginalized populations by enhancing market access, promoting climate-resilient agriculture, and facilitating access to social safety-net services. Gender equity, women’s empowerment, and accessibility for people with disabilities are central to this initiative.
UNDP is providing technical support for the livelihood interventions, and the project is being linked with the ongoing Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) initiative ‘Pathways to Prosperity,’ which is helping millions of people in Bangladesh overcome extreme poverty.
The project is being implemented in close collaboration with the Ministry of CHT Affairs, the CHT District Councils, and the CHT Regional Council.
