The Advancing Women’s Right of Access to Information in Bangladesh Project, implemented by Trinamul Unnayan Sangstha (TUS) with support from USAID and The Carter Center, aimed to strengthen women’s access to information and promote climate justice in Khagrachari Hill District. Through capacity building, awareness campaigns, youth engagement, and collaboration with Local Government Institutions, the project empowered marginalized women and youth to exercise their right to information. It enhanced transparency, accountability, and civic participation while fostering community-led advocacy for gender equality and environmental justice in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

The Activating Village Courts in Bangladesh Phase II Project (CHT Part), implemented by Trinamul Unnayan Sangstha (TUS) with support from the European Union, UNDP, and the Government of Bangladesh, worked to strengthen local justice systems in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The project focused on improving access to justice for disadvantaged and marginalized communities by building the capacity of local authorities, traditional leaders, and community institutions. It empowered women, poor, and vulnerable groups to seek timely and affordable remedies through Village Courts and traditional justice mechanisms. By harmonizing customary laws, training elected representatives and judicial actors, and raising community awareness, the project enhanced the responsiveness, transparency, and effectiveness of local justice in 1,180 villages across nine upazilas of Khagrachari District. The initiative contributed significantly to promoting rule of law, good governance, and peaceful dispute resolution in the CHT region.

The SLSP project has significantly contributed to improving the socio-economic resilience of ethnic communities in Khagrachari through a combination of skill-based training, input support, and gender awareness. By promoting sustainable agriculture, livestock, and handicraft production, as well as strengthening education and health services, the project has enhanced income generation and self-reliance among rural households while fostering inclusion and dignity.
